Hi Mac Users,
A friend of mine tries to install Dynare on OS X 10.11.5 via homebrew, following the guidance at https://github.com/DynareTeam/dynare. However, the options passed are not correctly translated:
Bs-iMac:~ bb$ brew dynare --HEAD --with-matlab=/Applications/MATLAB_R2015b.app --with-matlab-version=R2015b --without-octave -v
==> Reinstalling homebrew/science/dynare with --with-matlab=, --with-matlab-version=, --without-octave
As you can see, both --with-matlab and --with-matlab-version suddenly have empty arguments, giving rise to
Error: You must build Dynare with Matlab and/or Octave support
Does anyone know what is going on?
Best,
Johannes
There are several problems with this:
1) As stated on the site, the instruction is “brew install dynare” not “brew dynare”
2) There should be no line break. The user has typed "—with- matlab” and not “—with-matlab"
The user should read the github site more carefully.
Best, Houtan

Hi Houtan,
thanks for your help.
1. This is a copy and paste mistake from my side. He used “brew reinstall dynare”, which is the reason for “==> Reinstalling homebrew/science/dynare”. When dropping --without-octave, Dynare is correctly installed, but the mex-files are missing because no Matlab was detected.
2. I don’t see any line break or whitespace in the command line text I got sent. How did you identify this issue? Or did your email-client do a linebreak?
Sorry for bothering you with this. We also tried using the linux-pipeline with “configure” and “make all”, but make then complains about bison 3.0 being installed on the machine and the build not supporting it.
Best,
Johannes

Hi,
I am working on it.
As for the bison 3 problem, if you’d like to configure things directly on your own, you need to install an older version of bison. Do: brew tap homebrew/versions brew install homebrew/versions/bison27 brew link --force bison27

Thanks. That should hopefully fix the problem. I will try it, but that might take some time, because the user now is on vacation.
