Hi all,
I am trying to run a virtual machine on Hal, so that I can compile packages for Ubuntu/AMD64 there (and it would probably be possible to also run a Windows/64).
The software I use for that (VirtualBox) is very intuitive, but needs a hardware feature, called Intel VT. The feature is present in Hal, but is currently disabled in the BIOS, and therefore we need a manual intervention on Hal for enabling it.
Does any of you plan to go to Jourdan in the near future ?

Not me. But the person who does it, should also move Hal from the office into the xerox machine area. A hub may be needed to connect both Hal and the printer. There is indeed a second Ethernet connection in that local, but I don't know whether it is activated.

I finally went to Jourdan, but before reading your message, so I didn't move Hal.
I switched the setting for virtualization in the BIOS. I also changed another setting related to power management, so that Hal so reboot by itself after a power loss.
I installed VirtualBox closed-source edition (http://www.virtualbox.org/), and it seems to work great. The open-source edition distributed with Debian unfortunately has a bug with 64 bits. I am therefore now able to run Ubuntu/64 in a window under Debian.
There is still a problem with available space on Hal hard drive. I cleant up the trash bin of the dynare user account, but it is still not sufficient for comfortable use. Stéphane told me that we should buy a new hard drive.
