I never use the dynasave command, but I guess that this command should be placed after a simulation command (simul or stoch_simul).
IRFs are saved in the structure oo_. This is done in stoch_simul.m (line 143). I do not think this should be made optional.

if options_.save_IRFs==1 save ([M_.fname '_IRFs_' num2str(i) '_' deblank(M_.exo_names(i,:))], 'irfs'); end
Poss. we could then later add a command to preprocessor to control state of options_.save_IRFs
