Ok. You are right. The factor is two on my machine as well. So the slower runtime on Sedna amplifies the difference then. Riddle solved.

On Sedna, it took 2 minutes 8 seconds with Matlab. It doesn't surprise me that Octave is twice as slow. What's the factor difference of time it takes to run between Matlab and Octave on your machine?
