I would like to pick up Sébastien's suggestion to raise the minimum Matlab
requirement of Dynare. I would like to suggest to make at least 7.3 (2006b)
the new minimum requirement. This would shrink the number of number of
Mex-File delivered and selectable in the Dynare unstable package from 7 to
5. Apart from making the file smaller and reducing the compilation time,
this would also make the installer more tidy.
Moreover, as this version is already 6 years old, I doubt earlier versions
are used that much.

Concerning the 4.3 release, we probably should not raise the
requirement. But that could make sense for the next release (i.e. on
master).

In addition to the smaller number of MEX files to distribute, another
advantage is the possibility of using functions and improvements
introduced between 7.0 and more recent versions. For a summary, see:

 http://www.dynare.org/DynareWiki/MatlabVersionsCompatibility

So I’m personally fine with bumping the requirement to 7.3. What do
others think?
