Hi, thanks for all your explanations, I was obviously not aware of all those difficulties associated with maintaining the DLLs in SVN.
Best regards

Hi George,
one of the problems is that we have now too many target architectures: -Windows 32 bit Windows 64 bit Linux 32 bit Linux 64 bit
-Matlab and Octave
-The problem under Linux is multiplied by the presence of different versions of libc.so
-For the DLL you need to multiply by the different versions of Matlab.
Until now, we were only putting the binary for Windows 32 bit. This is what is discountinued.
Actually, Sebastien and Stephane who develop under Linux, don't have an immediate way (or need) to build the Windows binary. For my part, I must admit that I very frequently just forgot to update dynare_m.exe on SVN.
The idea is to direct the users towards the numbered versions or the snapshot is they really need the very last version.
For the developers, I think that we can live with recompiling when we need the last version.
In the future, I would like us to offer a dynare_update procedure that let a user update automatically to the last version. It could maybe be a solution to the problem of adapting the binaries to the installation of the user rather that giving him/her all versions of the binaries.
Best
Michel

Hi
I think that offloading the compilation and linking to the "users" of SVN does not save our time but, on the contrary: i..e. each user then has to
do
his/her own build including each of us, the developers.
On the other hand, who ever changed the original source code most likely
had
to do the build anyway to test it. Why not just putting it into SVN then
and
save time to the dev team as well as any potential users. And, whoever
needs
or wants to rebuild it then can do so too.
Best regards

Hi
Do you think that by the way we could also remove DLL binaries from the SVN ?
Thanks
Sébastien

Hi George,
we aren't distributing dynare_m.exe by SVN anymore. In fact the one
that
was
still there hadn't been updated for a while. You should recompile the preprocessor after a SVN update.
Alternatively,
you can
obtain the last version of dynare_m.exe from the current snapshot for
version 4.
I should put a warning on the web site.
All the best,
Michel

Hi
I noticed dynare_m.exe is currently missing in v4 SVN - has it gone
"under a
repair"?
